The Mission of F.A.I.T.H. Way
|
F.A.I.T.H.Way's mission is to 1) provide relief to distressed children in need of a home, 2) Maintain a mission house for partnership with DSS emergency placements and with missionaries, and 3) Offer family-based discipleship studies.
How we will accomplish it
Arts and light agricultural instruction to promote bonding and purpose
Invitation to feel like a real family member, not just a guest
Community involvement to promote a greater sense of belonging
Partnering with Rutherford County and NC Department of Social Services
Prayer Needs
Pray for the building efforts currently taking place in order to house more children and develop a conference center.
Pray for more volunteers that are driven by the same sense of compassion that we are.
Pray for each child to experience what it is like to be loved by both God and people.
Pray for us to be constantly edified by God so that we can provide the best care possible.
From the tender age of 4, I am thankful for my mama teaching me the love of missions – with little money but rich in love, she went into a poor community teaching them about God through the blessings of their very first Vacation Bible School (VBS)!!
When I was 9 years old, I answered the Lord's call, repented, and became a redeemed child of the King. By the next month, the Holy Spirit placed upon my heart two things for my life. One is the reason for this website – an outreach ministry for the community that includes a children's home. This vision and passion have never left me, and the Lord has certainly been faithful. By the age of 11, I was provided the opportunity to teach a kindergarten class at VBS for two summers in a row. I also began a neighborhood weekly backyard Bible club for younger children. My heart for the Lord and people kept growing with every mission opportunity. During high school, I worked with handicapped children during Sunday school by helping them learn about Jesus.
"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9)." When I entered the Air Force, I thought it was my plan but as always, His ways are bigger and better. Why? Because God wants the best for His children, so He has and is growing me spiritually as I continually join His work. He certainly opened the mission field at every place we lived – opportunities to share the Gospel. The Lord even orchestrated my marriage to the minute detail that Dave was onboard from the beginning about the future plans of a nonprofit ministry. Waiting on the Lord's timing has been an incredible journey to get me to where I am today. The Lord has provided spacious property not only for a children's home but a mission house and discipleship center. I daily stand amazed and in awe of His faithfulness.
Scriptures that have kept me grounded and sustained in life:
John 15 and Psalm 1 – For the believer, Jesus gave us the secret to a full joy: His final instructions to His true disciples were abide, obey, and love, so that His Father is glorified and your joy is made full. Remain in Him and be firmly planted.
Focusing on verses 5 and 11 - 5"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." 11"These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full."
Comforter – John 14:16-17 - And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever - the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:26 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 15:26 – But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me.
Philippians 2:1-16 – Be a Christ-like selfless servant.
Focusing on verses 3-5: "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."
Our Father's command and commission to us:
Matthew 22:36-40 – "“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 28:19-20 – "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Therefore, our mission at F.A.I.T.H.Way Ministries is built upon these two statements which encompass the greatest of all commitments exemplified by our Savior which we are to follow. The great commandment speaks about our motivation to make disciples because we are motived by God's love, by loving God and by loving people. The great commission speaks about our mission to make disciples.
Additionally, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 urges us to share the comfort of our Lord with others. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
The story of my coming to Christ is more like a journey than a single event.
In retrospect, I now see I first began seeking the Lord during my high school years. I just had no idea He was who I was seeking. I guess I was a bit of a science geek because I literally took every science course my school offered in an attempt to figure out what life was all about and how it all worked. For the lack of a better argument, I believed the myth that the world was millions of years old and that life somehow just happened. I knew of the name Jesus but really had no idea who Jesus was let alone what he did to pay for my sins. I had no idea the Bible actually held all the answers to my quest because I had never read any of it and never had anyone share the Good News with me. I figured I was good enough, or at least better than most, and that was all that really mattered.
After attending my grandmother’s funeral, which was the summer after I graduated high school, I really began to think there had to be more to life than living and dying. The problem was I had never really heard the gospel presented. I believed there once lived a good man named Jesus. I even believed he was born in a manger. Wasn’t that enough to say I believed in Him?
Unfortunately, those I asked what church was all about led me down a path of legalism and religion rather than point me to a relationship with my Creator. That path of legalism told me I would go to heaven when I died because I was now a “member” and had been baptized. I knew I needed something from God and guessed this religion was good enough. I believed I was “saved” and even confidently proclaimed so to my fiancé. It was through her patient example that God showed me I needed more than a mere association with a church to find His saving peace and joy.
I can point to a day in the fall of 1987 where I publicly proclaimed my salvation through Christ…the day the whole salvation story came together for me. God claimed me for His own long before that and my believing came a little at a time.
